passed away peacefully at home
on September 21, 2011.

Preceded in death by parents, James and Elizabeth White; grandson, Seth White. Survived by loving wife of 48 years, Joyce White; sons, Dr. Richard Lee (Denise) Breeden, James Robert White, Jr., Robin "Rob" White and Richard J. (Debbie) White; daughters, Dianne Adair (Brian) Berry and Lauran Adair (Edward) Mason; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren.

Mr. White faithfully served in the Marine Corp., World War II and Korea. He will be remembered for his time as a Disc Jockey and Television Announcer (1951-1961), General Manager of Nelson Chevrolet in Chicago, Owner of Bob White Car Center, President of Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce (1961-1962), General Manager of Chapman Ford, Preston Lincoln Mercury, Shelton Harrison Chevrolet, President of Bob White Travel, Inc., Commander of VFW in Brentwood Post 9687, Member of Capital City Golf Association, McCabe Senior Golf Association, past member of Richland Country Club, Temple Hills Country Club, Springfield Country Club, El Conquistador Country Club and Desert Inn Country Club in Las Vegas, Southeastern Representative for Spartan Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK (1992-1998).

He was an avid golfer, playing from Rio de Janeiro to multiple courses throughout the world, in Scotland, England, Hawaii, the Caribbean, etc. Mr. White loved life and took every opportunity to make the most of every moment he was afforded.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at three o'clock in the afternoon in Woodlawn's Dignity Hall with Rev. Jerry Hilton officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from two o'clock until four o'clock in the afternoon, and again on Sunday from one o'clock up until the time of service.

Interment will be held on Monday, September 26, 2011 at nine o'clock in the morning at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Those serving as Active Pallbearers will include: Bob Long, Ed Mason, Chaz Mason, Jay Richard White, Tommy Rains, Bill Higgins, Mickey Collins and Brian Berry. Honorary Pallbearers to include dear friends of the Sherlock Holmes Club, the VFW Brentwood Post 9687, Robert Wheeler, Gene Cunningham, Charlie Emory, NC Harvey, Ray Clark, Charlie Collins, Doug Hall, John Yount, Randal Wyatt and Robert Williams. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or The Nashville Humane Society.
